Mummy Jalapeño Poppers
Equipment
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Knife
- Mixing bowl
- Spoon
- Pastry brush
Ingredients
- 8 large jalapeños
- 1 cup cream cheese or vegan cream cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese or vegan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
- 16 candy eyes or sliced olives for eyes
- 1 egg or plant-based milk for vegan option
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise and remove the seeds.
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth.
- Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture.
- Cut the puff pastry into thin strips. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with puff pastry, leaving a small gap for the “eyes.”
- Place the wrapped jalapeños on the baking sheet. Brush the pastry with a beaten egg (or plant-based milk for a vegan option) to help it turn golden brown.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden.
- Once out of the oven, place two candy eyes or olive slices on each jalapeño to complete the “mummy” look.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
