Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  • Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Leave space between cookies as they will spread. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
