Creamy Kielbasa and Penne Pasta
a one-pan wonder, marrying smoky sausage with a creamy sauce made from garlic, cream, and cheese.
Equipment
- Large skillet
- Pot for boiling pasta
- Knife
- Cutting board
- Wooden spoon
- Measuring cups and spoons
Ingredients
- 12 oz kielbasa sliced into rounds
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 cups fresh spinach optional
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the sausage from the pan and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer.
- Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes (if using). Let the sauce thicken slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked pasta and browned kielbasa to the skillet. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated in the sauce.
- Stir in fresh spinach (if using), allowing it to wilt slightly in the sauce.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan if desired.
Notes
You can substitute other types of sausage or use a non-dairy cream alternative for a lighter version. To add more vegetables, try stirring in chopped tomatoes or mushrooms along with the spinach.
