Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Pot for boiling pasta
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 12 oz kielbasa sliced into rounds
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 cups fresh spinach optional
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

  • Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the sausage from the pan and set it aside.
  • In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer.
  • Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes (if using). Let the sauce thicken slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the cooked pasta and browned kielbasa to the skillet. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated in the sauce.
  • Stir in fresh spinach (if using), allowing it to wilt slightly in the sauce.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

You can substitute other types of sausage or use a non-dairy cream alternative for a lighter version. To add more vegetables, try stirring in chopped tomatoes or mushrooms along with the spinach.
